We are small little podcast where your hosts, Kara and Ed, look at historical and not so historical cases where we don't celebrate humanity's success but its most fantastic failures. There are always lessons to be learned in failure and humanity has run amuck with fool proof plans that immediately go sideways and fall apart shortly after executing those plans. Join us as we scour the "human-verse" in search for the most poignant, and often hilarious, failures and try to pull out what can be learned from these failures.
With an academic background in history, Kara has spent years digging into the past, exploring everything from ancient cultures to modern events. Her goal is to make history accessible and captivating for everyone, from the curious listener to the seasoned history buff. Whether Kara is in the classroom guiding her students through their own academic journeys or researching the next Dumpster Fire episode, her enthusiasm for history and storytelling is undeniable. In addition to her passion for the past, Kara has a love for creating. She has a knack for cartoons and illustration that she uses to bring her appreciation of history to life in her own unique way.

Humanity has struggled the past four decades to explain what Ed is in a general sense of the word. However, it is safe to say that this guy knows way too much stuff for his own good. His motto in life goes something like this: The world is comprised of information and lord knows, Ed is full of it.
The confusion started when Ed started to learn astronomy and physics in his early teens. From there he studied anything mechanical such as bicycle repair and when he got into college, he studied American history along with mechanical engineering. When the prospects of possibly being the first man to walk on Mars fell through (approximately the same time he stepped on a bathroom scale and found out he was three and a half times over the legal weight limit to become an astronaut, Ed turned his sights to the next best thing... English with an emphasis on British poetry. From there he taught high school English as because of his weird educational background, he became a math and science teacher at the junior high level teaching alongside Kara for two years.
One thing about Ed that we have been able to figure out with the help of a bunch of people in lab coats and clipboards, is that he has an undying love for anything that can fit in his head. He tries to fill it mostly with knowledge, but his ego has expanded the amount of empty real estate to new levels. While he loves absorbing the next useless fact, he loves teaching and he's in his element whenever he can help someone see the world a little differently or help themselves help each other.
In terms of content, you can rely on Ed to talk about scientific and engineering dumpster fires in history and if you're struggling with insomnia, then he can talk about British poetry ad nauseum. Check out Ed's rambling below!
